As you will have noticed, the blog hasn’t been updated for a while and some of you have been asking about what the state of MenuMachine is, and even if we are still working on it.

I can tell you that we are currently working extremely hard on getting it out the door.

We did hope to have it ready by the end of this quarter but unfortunately due to several unfortunate and non-development-related problems we have not been able to meet that estimate. We are currently looking at a release by mid-year.

Thanks for the update. I’ve been making spry menus in Dreamweaver and it’s a giant step down from Menu Machine for GoLive, it is really needlessly heavy-going. Can’t wait for MM3! Thanks for all your hard work.

  2. Amy Says:

Thanks for the update… I was REALLY hoping that you guys were still working on it and can’t wait until it comes out!

  3. Trevor Gilchrist Says:

Hey Rob, fwiw, I’m still using GoLive BECAUSE I need MM more than I need Dreamweaver… whatever I can say to encourage you to get the new MM rolling, I will gladly say. For now, just know that your work is greatly appreciated and extensively used.

  4. Bob Stammerjohan Says:

I found your previous comments about how to incorporate MM into a DW site – by first creating the site in GoLive and then opening the DW site in the root folder of the GoLive site – to be extremely helpful. It is NOT necessary at all to use GoLive instead of DW. It’s inconvenient, but well worth the inconvenience to still use DW and to be able to incorporate any MM menu into it. The biggest inconvenience is that I have to switch over to the GoLive version whenever I want to make menu revisions. Again, it is worth the inconvenience as I have found nothing anywhere that compares with MM menus.

  5. Ron Hinds Says:

I think I have mastered the use of placing MM2 menus (created in Golive) into DW sites… lot of copy and paste. Works fine.. everytime. Quite easy to make changes.
I agree with Bob S above… nothing else like MM out there. The ones that come close want to piece-meal their product… Oh, you want vertical menus… that’s extra $ !
    Thanks Rob for the update.
    I’m still here for mm3.

  6. Craig Paterson Says:

Great news that developing is pushing on. Can’t wait to see how MenuMachine evolves. When it comes to beta testing, I would be up for it.

  7. Micdim Says:

I’m also still using MM2. I Hope MM3 comes out soon, because I’m seeing a lot of other menu systems out there, but of coarse when you’ve been spoiled by the best it’s hard to use system that are sub-standard.

Can’t wait to see what yo come up with.

    Thx.

  8. Rod Daynes Says:

Rob, As you know, we’re in the third re-write of our CMS, Communitas, and while it’s largely ColdFusion-based, thus should also have HTML/CSS layouts and templates based entirely in Dreamweaver, we still prefer Golive for our templates/layouts, mainly due to the clear superiority of MenuMachine over anything that Dreamweaver offers or has _ever_ offered. This is to thank you (again) for your amazing and versatile plug-in, such as it is. My SE and I are looking forward to the next version too. As a coder, he’s particularly psyched about how you’re planning the new release, it fits 100% with his ideas about how things should be done. We’re looking to v3, but for now v2x of MenuMachine is just fine. Best regards!

  9. Chris Garland Says:

I agree with Trevor Gilchrist, above — I won’t switch to DW until MM v.3 is released. That’s it. I’ve tried purchasing menu plug-ins for DW and trashed them all in disgust.

I hope you’re planning on sending an email announcement when v.3 is ready. Thanks!

  10. Erin Clark Says:

Thank you SO MUCH for the update!!! MM Rocks. Nothing else will do.

  11. Robert Cone Says:

Long time GL & MM user and have also researched other extensions for DW and have found nothing that compares. Forced to go the DW route at corporate level and I am looking forward to when MenuMachine can once again create the “Wow” factor that it has done for us in the past.

  12. Jeff Jay Says:

Just want to add my encouragement for MM3. I’ve recently purchased DW, but the menu options, including Spry are pathetic. After working with GL and MM, which are so easy, DW feels like stone age software, when it comes to menus. Just plain lazy, incomplete design. Menu Machine has spoiled me for good. Can’t wait for MM3.

  13. Brian Burrow Says:

Also can’t wait. It’s been a long time coming.. There’s nothing out there that compares.. I even spent a ton of money buying dreamweaver extensions from another company, one of which was supposed to make it easy to do menus.. they were all crap.

  14. Fred Suevel Says:

Have been reluctant to change to Dreamweaver because of the lack of your great product Menu-Machine. Just found your note on working with MM and Dreamweaver so I guess I’ll start to play with it. Looking forward to MM3.

  15. Lawrence Says:

I have had to finally make the move to dreamweaver and it is NOt a pleasant as GoLive. Their Spry menus are a mess, especially when used as a library object. Please hurry up. I need my Menu Machine!! You’ve sold a copy to this web designer as soon as it is released. WOuld be happy be be a Beta tester if needed.

  16. Uri Says:

Do you have a rough idea yet when MM3 will be ready? I refuse to use Dreamweaver’s Spry menus on a new site I’m working on. I have to publish in July, so I’m wondering if I will make it. I would be happy to beta test. Thanks for all your hard work!

  17. Jeff Jay Says:

A monthly update on the blog would be greatly appreciated. Just a few crumbs for the faithful…

  18. Rob Keniger Says:

I appreciate everyone’s patience. We’re getting close to outside beta stage at the moment, so if you’re interested please ping me at rob@menumachine.com.

  19. Dave Camenisch Says:

Thanks, for the update. I am also one of the users that do not switch to DW because of MM. Great to read that it will be out soon. :-)

  20. Fred Potter Says:

I recently got a survey from Adobe asking me why I haven’t upgraded yet. I responded that until they can produce products like MM, I was not interested. I will stick with Golive until MM# comes out and then I will be the first kid on the block to buy it. Keep the faith, guys! You have a lot of loyal users out there.

  21. Greg Says:

MM is the only reason for GoLive’s existence on my computers although only for the purpose of occasional menu edits. Calibration with others pretty much requires DW and other CSS tools.

Looking forward to the MM3 release.

  22. Stuart Says:

The patience of Job…when is this thing coming?

  23. Cramertivity Says:

I bought MM a few years ago, and continue to use it through that blasted work-around. I’ve tried Spry and some other plug-ins – and none come close to the simplicity of MM. It’s such a great aid to productivity that I believe that this “secret weapon” has made me money. I really hope you can get that DW version up ASAP – I’ll be one of the first guys in line to buy it! I’m guessing that the delay in getting it to market means that we’ll have a bug free (or close to bug-free) product.

  24. dj_tony Says:

Still using golive (and obviusly MM2). waiting for MM3 at all.
    thanks from Italy.

  25. Frank Says:

I use GL/MM2 now as a perfect tool only to create menus. All other things I make with DW – and now with DWcs4 you can even see the MM2-menues in DW with the LiveView. So I can live very well with the fact, that MM3 will not work with windows-DW. I can confirm that all other solutions for making menus in DW (Spry, PluginLab…..) are often frustrating.

  26. Erin Clark Says:

    any news?

  27. Russ Marini Says:

    Hey Rob,

Was waiting to revamp our website til the new MM was released, but had to start.
Glad to hear that its gonna beta soon!

Wouldnt mind beta testing it on our currently under construction Site.
MM 2 was a very special product.

Hope mm3 lives up to expectations
